The purpose of this short paper is to analyse the semantic field of the grammatical structure "δοκέω + εἶναι" which appears to be translated in various and ambiguous ways. Therefore, I invite the reader to a short philological adventure during which we will try to unfold the semantical field of the grammatical structure “οἱ δοκοῦντες στῦλοι εἶναι” used in Gal 2,9, and I try to find an answer to the following question: what does this characterisation exactly mean?

Though there are currently a number of texts for teaching biblical Greek, most of them are plagued by various deficiencies. Written with these flaws in mind, this new primer by N. Clayton Croy offers an effective, single-volume introduction to biblical Greek that has proven successful in classrooms around the country. This volume takes a primarily deductive approach to teaching biblical Greek and assumes that students have no prior knowledge of the language.
In this short paper I try to outline how Theodoret of Cyrus did use in his work the term μυστήριον. This word has an extended semantic field. It can refer (among others) to any mystery or secret, to a mystery- or secret doctrine, to mystic implements, to divine secrets, etc. In the Late Antiquity it gained a semantic expansion, denoting the holiest rituals of the more and more consolidating Christianity.
