Mutual encouragement. Meeting of Dutch and Transylvanian peregrini
Thursday, 2018, October 11 - 14:00 to Friday, 2018, October 12 - 15:00
The Theological Institute organises a two-day meeting on academic peregrination. The arrival of theologians and ministers from the Netherlands to study in Transylvania, as well as the departure of Hungarian ministers to universities in the Netherlands demonstrate that besides the scientific outcomes, this relationship served to "strengthen and comfort each other in faith" (Romans 1:11-12).
The aim of this symposium organised on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the arrival of the first Dutch theologian couple to Kolozsvár, Transylvania, from a university in The Netherlands, is to bring together theologians from The Netherlands studying at Kolozsvár and those accomplishing their studies at Kolozsvár who went to deepen their knowledge at universities in The Netherlands.
Twenty-four Dutch peregrini have studied theology at Kolozsvár for the last fifty years. Most of them have completed a magisterial course. Two of them won a doctoral degree at Kolozsvár. The committee organising the symposium knows about fifty Transylvanian ministers who studied theology in The Netherlands. Some of them graduated a Master's course and four of them have completed their PhD studies there.
The connection between the churches has brought about fruitful relationships between institutions and churches. We invite both former and current peregrini to participate at this meeting.
