Results of the 23rd Scientific Conference of Students in Transylvania

The meeting of the theological section of the 23rd Scientific Conference of Students in Transylvania took place on Friday, October 23. In the theological section six students presented the results of their research to the online forum, organised in the Zoom space. The following studies were presented in the section:


The meeting of the theological section of the 23rd Scientific Conference of Students in Transylvania took place on Friday, October 23. In the theological section six students presented the results of their research to the online forum, organised in the Zoom space. The following studies were presented in the section:

  • István Biró (PTI): Teaching church history at the Faculty of Theology in Cluj-Napoca between 1895 and 1948 (supervisor: Dr. József Vilmos Kolumbán)
  • Henrietta Demeter (PTI): Narrative sermon and biblical stories (supervisor: Dr. Jenő Kiss)
  • Norbert Nagy (PTI): Faith is from hearing - Communicating a sermon, or how to convey divine speech more effectively (supervisor: Dr. Péter Botond Koppándi)
  • Ingrid Sfet (BBU): Where do we come from? Who are we? Where are we going? (supervisor: Dr. Sarolta Püsök)
  • Richard Tinca (BBU): Fraternity in Suffering: The Relationship between Áron Márton and Alexandru Todea (supervisor: Dr. Szabolcs András)
  • Lehel Vass (PTI): Textual and redactional history of Gen 46:8-27 (supervisor: Dr. Csaba Balogh)

Students were given 20 minutes to present their research results. The presentation was followed by questions and discussion. Results were announced on Sunday, October 25th. According to the jury's assessment, the outcome of the student conference was as follows:

  • 1st prize: Lehel Vass
  • 2nd prize: István Biró
  • 3rd prize: Norbert Nagy
  • Honourable mention: Henrietta Demeter

Another student of the PTI, Debora Földvári, received honourable mention during the competition held in the spring period (May 23rd):

  • Debora Földvári: The Church Service for Women in the Age of the New Testament (supervisor: Dr. Zoltán Adorjáni)

We would like to congratulate the students. We hope this conference to be an incentive for their future academic careers as well. We are also thankful for the supervising teachers. Thanks go to Beatrix Bíró, student of PTI, for her share in organising the event and moderating the online conference.
