Philo of Alexandria considered the Torah to be of absolute authority. By using the allegorical interpretation, he tried to prove that the Holy Scripture is a thesaurus of godly truths and philosophy alike, which contains moral and spiritual guidance resonating with the teachings of the Greek philosophy. Philo had a peculiar interpretation of Gen 1,27 from the Septuagint: ‟male and female He created them.” In his view, the first ideal man was asexual. In his work, De vita contemplativa he argued that the celibacy of the Therapeutae men and the chastity of the Therapeutae women is a quality of life which is the closest to the Creation of the ideal man.
